A detainee at the U.S military’s Guantanamo Bay detention center is held without charges for over a decade and seeks help from a defense attorney for his release.
In the last few years ‘Based on Real Events’ Legal, Courtroom style dramas have been some of my favourite movies I have seen. This year ‘Dark Waters’, ‘Just Mercy’ and ‘Trial of the Chicago 7’ are all going to be among some of my favourite films of the year, so believe me when I say that I am super pumped for this film. It’s going to be emotional and dramatic and will no doubt be one that sticks with me all year.
Shailene Woodley looks great here in something a bit more adult and dramatic then I am used to seeing her in. Jodie Foster has a slew of fabulous performances in her wheelhouse to back her up and Cumberbatch is a fantastic dramatic actor. Unless the runtime, or screenplay are sub-optimal, I don’t see how this one can go wrong.
I just have to cross my fingers and hope that my local cinemas are open again my then so that I have somewhere to go and see it.
