Its a new month, and the first month that the cinemas are going to be open full time. With that in mind, there are a bunch of new releases coming out. Here are the 4 that I am most excited to see this month!

LOKI (Disney+) June 9th

The next instalment from the MCU hits Disney Plus this month. And while I do have my reservations, a whole show about Loki does look a lot like fan pandering to me, the more I learn about it the more excited I get for it. Maybe I should have learnt by now that as a huge fan of the MCU, I should trust the system, it rarely ever lets me down.

This looks like it is going to be a lot of fun and also kinda crazy. After escaping the avengers in the alternate timeline created in Avengers: Endgame, Loki is recruited by the Time Variance Authority, and goes on a lot of time hopping adventures, and that is all I care to know of the plot of this so far, I want to go in quite blind, and allow this to change my preconceived assumptions of it.

In the Heights – June 25th

The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop. The likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life. – From IMDB

I LOVE musicals with every part of my soul. New and original musicals don’t come along as often as I would like, and after the absolute phenomenon that was ‘Hamilton’ I have big expectations for this new offering from the multi talented Lin Manuel Miranda. Even the music in the trailer is getting me excited to see this film.

A Quiet Place Part 2 – 3rd June

Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path. – From IMDB

Horror sequels can be very hit or miss, so I really hope that this one can live up to the impressive standards of the first film. Though not appearing in front of the camera this time, John Krasinski returns to direct the follow up to the widely successful ‘A Quiet Place.’ I am hoping to see a more expanded world, and maybe a little backstory to the events going on in the world, but more than anything, I hope they can keep up the crazy tension and suspense that were done so well the first time around,

In the Earth – 18th June

As the world searches for a cure to a disastrous virus, a scientist and park scout venture deep in the forest for a routine equipment run. – From IMDB

I had heard literally nothing about this film until I saw the trailer for it before another feature I was watching earlier in the month. The whole thing gives me very strong Ari Aster/Midsommar vibes, albeit a lot less Sunny and cheerful looking. Films that go for the more uncomfortable kind of horror rather than the outright scares are my favourite kind, and this looks like it going to hit that nail right on the head.

These are the four things I am most excited for this month. What films and shows are on the top of your to do list this month? Let me know in the comments.
