If you have been around here for a while, you will probably know that I am a huge, unashamedly huge, MCU fan. Saying that though, there were, and still are, a few projects in this Phase 4, that I was feeling a little underwhelmed by. ‘Hawkeye’ was one of them. I was expecting a bit of a moody, thriller type story, similar to Falcon and Winter Solider, just with characters I didn’t care about as much. Then this trailer dropped. And I remembered why I should just have faith in the MCU system. They always manage to surpass my expectations. Well…almost always.
What it actually looks like we are going to get here, is a kind of comedic buddy cop type show. Set in New York. At CHRISTMAS!! And that I am assuming will serve as the origin story for Kate Bishops introduction to the Avengers/Young Avengers/MCU in general.
I love that she is kind of bumbling and doesn’t really know what she’s doing. I love that we are going to get to see more of Clint interacting with his family after that horrendous opening scene in Endgame that was just mean, and cruel and uncalled for. Clint Barton has always been quick with the witticisms and sarcasm, so I guess it goes along with his character that there would be a lot of humour in here, but I just wasn’t expecting it.
We are of course expecting an appearance from Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova at some point in the show, though what that role will be, and how she knows Clint is of course, unknown. There have also been rumours that Vincent D’Onofrio is going to be reprising his role from Daredevil and return as the Kingpin, which would be truly spectacular, and one step closer to getting Matt Murdock back in the MCU.
I am now about 7352% more excited for this show than I was a week ago, and cannot wait to soak up all the festive vibes and check this out when the first episode hits Disney Plus on the 24th November.
